COVER LETTER:
To whom it may concern,
I am interested in making application with this organization. I am currently completing a Master’s Degree through Fresno Pacific University in Sport Administration and am a current intern with the San Jose Saber Cats in Player Personnel and Football Operations/Scouting.
Professionally I have had the ability over the past six years to grow within the California Teaching Fellows Foundation, a Non-Profit organization that staffs and manages over 170 educational programs within Fresno County and surrounding areas. I began as a coach/athletic program supervisor through the Teaching Fellows Foundation. I Coached youth of the ages of 8-13 in athletics as well as nutrition development
I was then promoted within the program to assistant acting supervisor and liaison within the after school program and the school. I began to oversee twelve staff and their development of enrichment based curriculum and activities.
After one year as a supervisor I was able to take on my own site as a Site Coordinator. At the site I directed staff, developed educational programs, and managed a $125,000 yearly budget for After School Program. As leader of this program I was able to experience partner relations, community relations, trip planning, as well as dealing with grantors.
Throughout 2007-2010 I had been developing a side project within the California Teaching Fellows Foundation. CTFF is a foundation based around staffing college students who are seeking to get into the teaching profession. As stated I began however as a coach, and the foundation did not serve coaches very well with training or development, thus I began to write a business proposal that would branch CTFF to also become “Coaching Fellows” where the foundation would hire and train college students who wished to get into the coaching field. Summer 2010 I was given the opportunity to run this new branch of CTFF called Coaching Fellows.
As director of Coaching Fellows I was assigned with recruiting, hiring, training, and management of this new branch of the foundation. The training has also been included on California State University’s curriculum as a three-unit course where I serve as the instructor. Over the past two years I have ran this part of the organization. On top of managing the Coaching Fellows portion of the program I also dually serve as Site Liaison to our after school program in Fresno Unified School District which we have roughly 175 staff members. This position includes HR oversight, recruitment, hiring, dismissing, disciplining, as well as seeking out more opportunities.
I have been blessed to have interned with four different organizations throughout my college experience: ESPN Radio, Edison High School, Fresno Grizzlies, and the San Jose Saber Cats. I most recently accepted an opportunity in professional football to take an internship in player personnel and football operations with the San Jose Saber Cats.
Sincerely,
Chris Wilson
